Nothing Can Ever Stop Us

Each of us has the ability to do and to be anything because, “we are wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14) There is so much promise and power in that verse. It opens up a fresh perspective of how we view ourselves and how we determine the trajectory of our lives. What is possible when we truly believe we are wonderfully made? How would the world be different if tomorrow all human beings believed they were wonderfully made?

American actress, Gabby Sidibe, made her acting debut in the 2009 film Precious. In Precious, Sidibe plays the main character, Claireece “Precious” Jones, an obese 16-year-old girl with two children trying to escape abuse at the hands of her mother. In real life, Sidibe struggled with negative self-image for many years. She did not believe she was wonderfully made until one day when she made a conscious choice to change her thinking.

When interviewed about what changed her thinking about her own self-image Sidibe shared, “One day I decided I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as a beautiful girl. It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see.”

Self-image is a choice. A choice we make every minute, hour, and day of our life. So, what are you waiting for? What choice will you make about you? How will this choice impact your future?
